An obnoxious, self-centered view on what-a-bitch life can be.....

9.30.2006

my partner in crime.

Ever since maine left for Singapore to pursue her journalistic dreams, I've had one less person to bitch, laugh and binge eat with. No more late night suppers along Chapel St. (well, she did all the eating anyway), no more late night/ early morning phone conversations (once again, she did most of the talking anyway) and no more getting lost in Camberwell!! (you know that it couldn't be MY fault right?)

In retrospect, I've realised that she has opened my mind to so many things- to name a few:

1) Loud music ie. The All American Rejects, Sunday night at Planet Shakers
2) How not to use a kitchen sponge
3) Old school jazz
4) Krispy Kremes
5) Separating the colours from whites
6) Sleepy music ie. Ben Harper
7) All things ART-SY
8) Skinny jeans
9) Rapid mould remover
10) American politics

A couple of my fav snaps of the glamour princess that is JJ!!

You're dearly missed, souvlaki will never be the same without you...... Come back soon!

Truly a GRAND final.

West coast defeats Sydney, 85-84. You BEAUTY!!!!!!!

i spy, with my......

Today, we (and i mean Melbourne) had one of the best spring days ... sun was out, birds were doing what they do and I didn't need to wear a scarf.

As I was standing at my door way, I happened to notice something odd about my neighbour's bathrom window. There was something on the inside of the window, which I couldn't quite make out. Turns out, it was Jinxy (their cat), basking in the sun; squashed up against the window.

Jinxy, with her supersonice hearing, responded to my calls, and gave me a "I'm watching you watch over me" stare.

She's adorable, really shy and will often come up the stairs and watch me from afar (cats are voyeuristic that way).

While on the topic of animals, theres this pigeon thats laying eggs on the tree right in front of my balcony. I've noticed it hasn't moved for 3 days, and its sitting on a quasi-nest. I say quasi because it looks sub-standard, maybe she was in a rush- shotgun? Will update when there are further developments.

It's FRIDAY, and I'm looking forward to tonight. The gang are coming over for dinner and drinks.

YES- one of those rare occasions I'm cooking at home for others.

NO- its not Thai Green Curry

I've got two bottles of bubbly, one semillon and beers in the fridge... maybe I should get more wine?

Tomorrow will be another good day. *nods*

ps: Just to clarify (for those who have asked), LISA M. is not the new love of my life, but in fact an Australian Idol contestant I'm rather fond of (think obsession). Don't worry people, you'll all know when my PERFECT other half finds me :)

Lady in red.

Theres some blog-worthy stuff I wanted to blog about but haven't got round to it (somehow this sentence has one too many "blogs" in it). Monday night was eunice's birthday bash at The Apartment, a relatively obscure (well to me it was) little place with a really nice feel.

I guess the atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect- live jazz band, sumptuous tapas/ canape, nice white wine (what else but my fav Sauvignon Blanc) and a gorgeous waitress who (mostly) ensured that my wine glass was hardly empty throughout the entire evening.
*I have a vague recollection of her name being Michelle*

The "friends of eunice" came dressed to impress (nice shoes of course), however none managed to upstage the birthday girl; looking absolutely breathtaking in her self-designed, self-stiched, self-everything, red couture dress.

Maybe the only one who came close was this 12 year old girl, not with her dress; but with her beautiful voice. To the shock and astonishment of everyone in that establishment, this 12 year old girl sang with a voice resembling that of an accomplished 24 year old!

According to Jonathan, "she sounds like Norah Jones, if not BETTER!".

Of course, theres always one disbeliever in every group. "Do you think they are playing from a CD? Must be lah!"

*Addy looking around for the surrond speakers*

I digress.

I think its safe to say that everyone had a ball, and turned out to be quite a memorable experience for the birthday gal. I even got to meet an old acquaintance, who happens to be an old friend of eunice.. what a small small world (or rather Singapore).

By far the most fun I've ever had on a Monday night.

oh happy day.

After I "spat the dummy" last night/ early this morning, I found myself listening to my current "happy" song........

I know your name, and I got your number, I don't wanna save the world, I just wanna waste some time with you

And once again, (without fail I might add) my "happy" song lifted my spirits and even gave me inspiration to change my project into something better, albeit completely different from my initial intentions. On the flipside, because I was "in the zone", I didn't want to leave it for another day, and only got to bed at 4ish in the morning.

We're both so young, we might as well face it, I don't wanna change nothing, I just wanna waste some time with you

Hence I'm feeling rather tired today, but... my happy song(with a dash of happy thoughts) is keeping me going.

FUMING

I'm getting very FRUSTRATED with my Communications module, especially the tech. assignment. This was suppose to be a walk in the park.

*breathe*

Its becoming a huge distraction from my core subjects. I'm thinking of dropping it....

*still breathing*

Will sleep on it and decide tomorrow, just wasted few hours on it when I could be doing my other more relevant assignments. Not happy joe.

table clutter.

As usual, I'm getting distracted while trying to write up my research journal.... and noticed the amount of junk there is on my table; half of which is useless! I realised my desk at home is starting to look like my desk at work, and those who have been to my office know thats a bloody scary thought.

Then I noticed the amount of creams/ moisturisers that are just on my table alone (i have dry skin lah)........ *shocking*

Weekend (work) is over.. hooray?

Just got back from work, Thank God that everything went pretty well, no contaminations, no major stuff ups, my babies seem to be growing well (most of 'em at least).

Had some problems waking up this morning, I think age is slowly catching up with me. I'm suppose to head down to the gym, but I've got a feeling if I don't start on my assignments, I'm not gonna get much done tonight. Maybe a jog later on? "Addddddy.. where are youuuuuu?"

Last night was David's 30th at The Pier restaurant, really cosy room upstairs with its own bar. I think this is one of the only times where I've never had to wait at the bar for service... *sweet*

Had the privilege of meeting some really nice, down to earth people who share similar interests and struggles. I think I've been hanging around too many scientists... definitely need to get out more.

The food was great, cake was to die for and the drinks kept flowing. Despite being doused with champagne (I've always wanted to know how it felt like), the night was one to remember; a great introduction to some great people I hope to see more of in the near future.
