An obnoxious, self-centered view on what-a-bitch life can be.....

1,2,3...4,5,6

Had an awesome day and night, but I'm completely exhausted!

Last night, our team (insulin receptor group) won the CSIRO Chairman's medal at the annual awards in Canberra, after 13 years of work and finally solving the structure. Although I reckon it was a 'political' decision, its still nice to add another achievement to the resume, AND, I got my 6 seconds of fame in front of the Canberra big shots; appearing in a short clip showing me working in the lab a couple of months back....

Just came back from dinner with Jules at this place in Clifton hill, I swear, the meals were BIG... like restaurant plates are usually 1.5x the size of our normal dinner plates; these were at least 3x the size(oval shaped). All I could think of was "I gotta bring Jason and Jasmine here", the hungriest couple alive. Food was okay, nothing fantastic but definitely value for money.. and we got free beers too!!

After dinner, we headed to Copacababa for salsa! The bestest night of salsa I've ever had, got all the moves right and everything went smoothly. I dare say there were moments when we actually looked sexy -instead of the usual "awkward". Jules is gorgeous on the dancefloor, she does a good job of putting up with me. I really enjoyed myself but was sad to hear that tonight was the last session for the year; really looking forward to next year!

I'm dead tired, eyes are sore and bloody MSN is down again. Time for bed.... have an exciting weekend ahead- movie tomorrow night, haircut cum shopping/ church/ house party on saturday and then I'm going to the U2 concert on Sunday.. YES- U2!!!!

*woohooo*

4 seasons in one day.

I'm super peeved... there was hardly any snow this winter, but now in November, just weeks out from summer, its snowing in the alps. And, to rub salt in the wound, I just got back from lunch and was caught in a HAIL storm, freaking hailing in the city!!!!

All this hot/ cold hot/ cold business is really making it hard to choose my wardrobe in the morning, and my little foldable umbrella wasn't designed to take hail.

*sheesh*

Just when I was looking forward to summer sports, I might have to resort to playing indoor sports.. like chess or something. I just hope this cold weather is indicative of the winter to come.

*grin*

life begins at 27.

Okay, so last wednesday I had my last Masters module, so technically I'm all done (kinda). The reason why I haven't completely "let loose" as yet is cos I have one more exam (and an assignment) to go, kinda like an elective, which I really regret doing. I still have a week to relax before I need to get back into the 'exam mode'.

Since my last exam, I've been trying to replenish my system with all that 'lost' alcohol. Also, I find myself sitting at home, doing absolutely nothing, sleeping in late, watching TV til late; indulging in these simple pleasures that I've been deprived of in the past 2 years. It's so nice to live a guilt-free life.

For example, I found myself watching snowboarding DVDs til late last night (which explains why I feel like shit at work today), then after that, I decided to watch the Shanghai Masters. Which brings me to my next point; I do not understand why the organisers chose to play chinese pop music during the changeovers. I cannot think of another ATP/ Grand slam event where they play any music during changeovers, let alone chinese music. And this wasn't your subtle "music in 5 star hotel toilets" music, it was blasting from the speakers. *cringe*

Was doing my daily read of "The Age"(online) this morning when i came across this interesting blog/ article entitled "How to spot a princess". Princess, being a politically correct term for a woman who is high-maintenance and a real pain in the arse. I love how the author relates his own personal experience.

"I had a girlfriend a few years ago who was so far up the Canadian royal family tree, I got maple splinters every time she got in bed"

An interesting read for the guys out there, looking (or in my case, waiting) for the 'right' one.

This whole exam period has screwed up my body clock, I can't sleep at the right time and I'm getting constant headaches. Maybe its just withdrawal symptoms, better look for a new course- FAST! *grin*

Have a great week people!
